Amarnath, focused on expanding his business empire, leaves the care and upbringing of his son to Munshi Phoolchand. As a result, Vicky grows up to be an alcoholic, taking every opportunity to mock and insult his father. While Amarnath hopes for a wealthy bride for Vicky, the young man is drawn to a poor woman, Meena, and insists that he will marry only her.
