Jamal Mixon

Biography

Jamal Mixon is an American actor best known for his work in comedy films and television. Born on June 17, 1983, in Oxnard, California, he began acting as a child and became familiar to audiences through his memorable role as Ernie Klump Jr. in The Nutty Professor (1996) and its sequel, Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (2000). He is the younger brother of actor Jerod Mixon.

Early Life and Career

Mixon entered the entertainment industry at a young age, reportedly beginning his acting career around the age of 12. His early work included appearances in television programs and films, allowing him to establish himself as a young comedy performer.

His feature-film debut came with The Nutty Professor in 1996, where he played Ernie Klump Jr., the son of Eddie Murphy's character. The role brought him early recognition and became one of the most identifiable performances of his career. He reprised the character in Nutty Professor II: The Klumps in 2000.

Film Career

Following his debut, Mixon appeared in several comedy and drama productions. His early film credits included Def Jam's How to Be a Player (1997) and Warren Beatty's Bulworth (1998). He later appeared in Beverly Hood (1999), House Party 4: Down to the Last Minute (2001), and The Cookout (2004).

One of his notable dramatic roles came in Gridiron Gang (2006), a sports drama starring Dwayne Johnson. Mixon played Jamal Evans, one of the young people involved in the football program at a juvenile detention center. The role gave him an opportunity to move beyond the primarily comedic parts associated with his early career.

Mixon subsequently appeared in Senior Skip Day (2008), Paul Blart: Mall Cop (2009), and Steppin: The Movie (2009). He also provided the voice of Ezee in the animated film Zambezia (2012) and appeared as Henry Weatherspoon in White T (2013).

Television Career

Alongside his film work, Mixon built a substantial television résumé. His early television appearances included Malcolm & Eddie, Moesha, Good News, and Cousin Skeeter. He later appeared in The Parkers, playing characters including Alan and Young Oglevee.

He also made appearances in programs such as The Proud Family, George Lopez, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. His television work demonstrated his versatility within comedy and allowed him to remain active across different types of productions.
