Surmeet Maavi
Biography
An Indian film writer, Surmeet Maavi is noted for his work in Punjabi cinema. A graduate in Journalism, Surmeet after completing his education worked with a local newspaper in Chandigarh for a brief period.
It was during his stint as a journalist that he realized his penchant for writing and he moved to Mumbai to become a film writer. He started his writing career as a dialogue writer for Punjabi serials like Lakeeran, Daane Anaar de, and Dupatta and later he wrote the screenplay for Hindi series like Kahin to Milegi.
After 15 years of working in the TV industry, he got his first big break in a feature film with Punjabi 1984 (2014). His other notable films as a writer include Baaz (2015), Sahreek (2015), Ambarsairya (2016), and Toofan Singh (2017), which is directed by Baghal Singh. His 2018 releases include Khido Khundi and Laatu.
