Aachi Manorama
Biography
Aachi Manorama was a popular Indian actress, comedian, and playback singer who predominantly worked in Tamil films. She was also seen in Telugu, Kannada, Malayala,m and Hindi films.
Early Life
Manorama was born as Gopishantha on May 26, 1937, in Mannargudi, Madras Presidency, British India. Her mother raised her by working as a maid. Due to poverty, her family moved to Pallathur near Karaikudi, where she had to drop out of school at the age of 11 and work as a maid.
Career
Manorama started her acting career at the age of 12, acting in plays. She was rechristened Manorama by one of her drama's directors Thiruvengadam and harmonist Thiayagarajan. She got the opportunity to act in the Sinhalese film Sukumali in 1957, playing the role of the heroine's friend.
Her career in Tamil films began in 1958 with the film Malayitta Mangai. She acted in over 1000 films and 5000 stage performances, which is a Guinness World Record. She was known for her comedic roles and her ability to speak multiple languages.

Personal Life
Manorama was married to S. M. Ramanathan and they had a son named Bhoopathy. The couple divorced in 1966.
Death
Manorama passed away on October 10, 2015, in Chennai due to a heart attack.
