From a young age, Horvath showed a strong passion for drawing, storytelling, and creating animated worlds — interests that would later define his career in the entertainment industry.

Career

Aaron Horvath began his professional journey working as an animator, designer, and storyboard artist on several acclaimed television projects. Early in his career, he contributed to shows such as The Misadventures of Flapjack and MAD, where he established his distinctive comedic style and flair for exaggerated yet expressive animation.

His breakthrough came when he co-created the hit animated series Teen Titans Go! (2013–present) for Cartoon Network, alongside Michael Jelenic. The show reimagined DC Comics’ Teen Titans characters in a humorous, self-aware format that appealed to both younger audiences and longtime fans. The series became one of Cartoon Network’s most popular and longest-running shows, praised for its wit, vibrant animation, and clever parodies of superhero culture.

Horvath and Jelenic later expanded the franchise with the feature film Teen Titans Go! To the Movies (2018), which received critical acclaim for its humor and satirical take on superhero blockbusters.

In 2023, Aaron Horvath co-directed The Super Mario Bros. Movie, a collaboration between Illumination Entertainment and Nintendo. The film became a global box office phenomenon, celebrated for its vibrant animation, nostalgic appeal, and respect for the iconic video game series.
