Biography
Abbi Jacobson is an American actress, comedian, writer, producer, director, and illustrator, born on February 1, 1984, in Wayne, Pennsylvania. She studied fine arts at the Maryland Institute College of Art and later moved to New York City, where she trained in improvisational comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.
Jacobson rose to prominence as the co-creator and co-star of the Comedy Central comedy series Broad City, which she created with Ilana Glazer. The series began as a web series before becoming a successful television show that ran for five seasons from 2014 to 2019.
She later co-created, wrote, executive produced, and starred in the Amazon Prime Video series A League of Their Own (2022), developed with Will Graham and inspired by the 1992 film. Jacobson played Carson Shaw, a baseball player who joins the Rockford Peaches during World War II. The series expanded the original story by exploring the experiences of women, Black baseball players, and LGBTQ+ characters.
As an actress and voice performer, Jacobson has appeared in projects including Person to Person, 6 Balloons, The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Disenchantment, BoJack Horseman, and No Good Deed. She voiced Katie Mitchell in The Mitchells vs. the Machines and Princess Bean in Disenchantment.
Jacobson is also an accomplished author and illustrator. Her books include Carry This Book, Color This Book: New York City, Color This Book: San Francisco, and I Might Regret This: Essays, Drawings, Vulnerabilities, and Other Stuff.
