Biography
Abhijeet Mohan Warang (born 16 April 1983), professionally known as Abhijeet Warang, is an Indian film director, actor, and screenwriter recognized for his contributions to Marathi cinema and theatre. He gained national recognition with his debut feature film, Picasso (2021), which earned a Special Mention at the 67th National Film Awards.
Early Life and Background
Abhijeet Warang was born in India and pursued his education at the Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Although trained in a technical environment, his inclination toward storytelling and performance arts led him to the world of theatre and cinema.
He later balanced his professional career with family life and is known to have two children.
Career
Theatre and Early Work
Warang began his creative journey in theatre as a writer and director. His early work in stage productions helped him develop a strong foundation in storytelling, character development, and performance direction. Theatre also shaped his preference for emotionally driven and intimate narratives.
Film Industry Experience
Before stepping into feature filmmaking, Warang spent four years working as an assistant director at UTV Software Communications. This period gave him valuable exposure to the technical and collaborative aspects of filmmaking.
