Biography

Abi Mehdhi Hassan, widely known as Abi Hassan, is an Indian actor who has made notable contributions to Tamil cinema. Born on September 4, 1997, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, he is the youngest son of esteemed actor and filmmaker Nassar and producer-turned-politician Kameela Nassar. His two elder brothers, Noorul Hassan Faizal and Luthfudeen have also pursued careers in the film industry.

From a young age, Abi was drawn to the world of acting, inspired by his father's illustrious career. He decided to focus on his passion early, completing his education up to the 10th grade before enrolling in a diploma course in acting at the Blue Ocean Film and Television Academy (BOFTA) in Chennai.

Abi's initial foray into the film industry was as a child actor in the 2012 film "Sun Sun Thatha," directed by his father, Nassar. To gain a deeper understanding of filmmaking, he later worked as an assistant director under Atlee Kumar for the 2017 film "Mersal." This experience provided him with valuable insights into the nuances of film production.

In 2019, Abi made his debut as a lead actor in the Tamil action thriller "Kadaram Kondan," portraying the character Vasu Rajagopalan alongside veteran actor Vikram and Akshara Haasan. His performance was well-received, marking a significant milestone in his acting career. Following this, he appeared in "Sila Nerangalil Sila Manidhargal" in 2022 and is slated to feature in "Mission: Chapter 1," set for release in 2024.

Beyond his acting endeavors, Abi is known for his humility and dedication to his craft. Despite being the son of a renowned actor, he has expressed a desire to carve out his own identity in the industry, often choosing to navigate his career without leveraging his father's fame. He is also politically inclined towards the party Makkal Needhi Maiam.
