Adam Mason

Biography

Adam Mason, born in Cambridge, England, in 1975, is a versatile filmmaker known for his work as a director, writer, and producer. He graduated from the London Film School and quickly began his career by directing and producing over 90 music videos in the following seven years, along with several award-winning short films.   

 

 

Mason gained recognition in the feature film world with "Broken" (2006), a low-budget production that garnered international distribution through The Weinstein Company and received numerous awards. This success led to his directing "The Devil's Chair" (2007), financed by Crystal Sky, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and achieved international acclaim through Sony. Following these films, Mason moved to Los Angeles after signing with CAA.

 

 

His subsequent work includes the psychological thriller "Blood River" (2009), shot in a ghost town in Death Valley, and "Luster" (2010), a dark comedy. He has also directed music videos for notable bands and, in 2019, directed two films for Blumhouse/Hulu: "I'm Just F**king with You" and "They Come Knocking" for the "Into the Dark" series. Another significant project was "Songbird" (2020), produced by Michael Bay. In 2023, he directed "Baby Blue" for XYZ Films.   

 

 

Mason frequently collaborates with writer Simon Boyes, and together they have written and sold numerous screenplays for major studios. Their produced original scripts include "Not Safe for Work" (directed by Joe Johnston) and "Misconduct" (starring Al Pacino and Anthony Hopkins).
