Adhik Ravichandran

Biography

Adhik Ravichandran is an Indian film director, screenwriter, actor, and playback singer known for his contributions to Tamil cinema. Born on January 17, 1990, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, he is the son of Ravichandran "Ravi" Kandaswamy, an assistant director with two decades of experience in the film industry.

Despite his father's extensive career, Adhik's mother was initially hesitant about him pursuing a similar path due to the challenges associated with the profession. To honor his mother's wishes, Adhik pursued an engineering degree but remained passionate about filmmaking, dedicating his time to scriptwriting throughout his college years.

After completing his education, Adhik trained under Major Ravi, gaining valuable industry experience. He made his directorial debut in 2015 with the romantic comedy "Trisha Illana Nayanthara," which achieved commercial success and was later dubbed into Telugu.

However, his subsequent project, "Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan" (2017), did not perform well at the box office.

In 2023, Adhik experienced a career resurgence with the release of "Mark Antony," a film that grossed ₹100 crore (US$12 million) at the box office, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Beyond directing, Adhik has showcased his versatility by contributing as a playback singer and lyricist in his projects.

On December 15, 2023, Adhik married Aishwarya Prabhu, the sister of actor Vikram Prabhu, further intertwining his personal life with the Tamil film industry.

Adhik Ravichandran's journey reflects his resilience and dedication to cinema, overcoming initial setbacks to establish himself as a prominent figure in Tamil filmmaking.
