Ajinkya Deo
Biography
Ajinkya Ramesh Deo is an Indian actor who works mostly in Marathi films but has also appeared in several Bollywood movies. Ajinkya made his acting debut in the year 1985 with the Marathi movie, Ardhangi.
Just two years after he made his debut, Ajinkya went on to win the much-coveted National Award for his part in the movie Sarja (1987).
Although Ajinkya grew up in a family that had a noted Marathi actor in his father, Ramesh Deo, he was never interested in acting and wanted to become a pilot. The actor went to the United States of America to study Computer Science.
However, his good looks and attractive personality ultimately led him into the entertainment industry. Ajinkya made his debut in Bollywood, with the movie Sansaar (1987) which starred Anupam Kher, Rekha, and Raj Babbar.
However, with no meaty roles coming his way in Bollywood, Ajinkya concentrated on acting only in Marathi movies and went on to become one of the most successful actors in the Marathi film industry with several hits to his name.
Ajinkya made his acting debut with the movie Ardhangi (1985). However, it was only two years later that the actor shot to fame for his brilliant role in the super hit movie Sarja (1987). The film not only won him the National Award but also got him a huge fan following.
Since then there has been no looking back and Ajinkya went on to star in numerous Marathi movies. He was also a part of the Blockbuster Marathi movie Maaherchi Saadi (1991), which was one of the highest-grossing Marathi language films at that time. The film starred veteran actor Vikram Gokhale in the lead role.
Ajinkya has played crucial roles as the second lead in several Marathi films. Some of the notable roles that Ajinkya played include that of a romantic hero in the movie Vaajva Re Vaajva (1992) which also starred established actor Ashok Saraf and that of an action hero in the thriller Marathi movie Bajrangachi Kamaal (1994) featuring the Marathi super-starLaxmikant Berde in the lead role.
After achieving success in the Marathi film industry within a short span of time, Ajinkya tried his hand at Bollywood and acted in several Bollywood films. He made his debut in the Hindi feature film Aan: Men at Work (2004) where he portrayed the negative role of a corrupt police officer.
The film, directed by Madhur Bhanarkar featured an ensemble cast including Akshay KumarJackie Shroff, Sunil Shetty, Shatrughan Sinha, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Paresh Rawal, and Irrfan Khan.

After his debut movie, the following year, Ajinkya starred in the Bollywood comedy film, Mr Ya Miss, which was written and directed by Antra Mali. The film, which follows the life of a womanizer who is reincarnated as a woman after being killed by one of his girlfriends featured Antra Mali, Aftab Shivdasani, and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead roles.
After the film flopped at the box office, the actor went back to acting in Marathi films and he had no Bollywood films to his name until 2013 when director Bejoy Nambiar cast him in his action-thriller film David.
The film starring Vikram, Neil Nitin MukeshVinay Virmani, Tabu, Lara Dutta Monica Dogra, and Isha Sharvani, upon release, got negative to mixed reviews. Times of India described the movie as “Maybe David needed more ‘D’ of ‘Depth’ in the story to make this more ‘Delightful’.”
