Aju Makita
Biography
Aju Makita was born on 7 August 2002 in Kanagawa, Japan. She is a Japanese actress who began her acting career at the age of seven. She later gained recognition for her work in films directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, including After the Storm (2016), The Third Murder (2017), and Shoplifters (2018).
Makita received the Best Newcomer award at the 2018 Hochi Film Awards for Shino Can't Say Her Name. She earned further acclaim for her performance as Hikari Katakura in Naomi Kawase's True Mothers (2020), winning the Mainichi Film Award and Hochi Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Her other notable projects include The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House (2023), In Love and Deep Water (2023), and Netflix's House of Ninjas (2024), in which she portrays Nagi Tawara. She has continued to appear in Japanese film and television productions, including Doctor Price (2025) and Reboot (2026).
