She comes from a film and fashion-oriented family — her father, Shashi Ranjan, is an actor and director, while her mother, Anu Ranjan, is the founder of a leading entertainment magazine. Her sister, Anushka Ranjan, is also an actress.

Akansha completed her schooling at Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai and later trained in acting at the Whistling Woods International School. She also pursued a course at the ITA School of Performing Arts, refining her skills in theatre and screen performance.
