A. K. Sajan
Biography
A. K. Sajan is an Indian screenwriter and film director who works primarily in Malayalam cinema. He began his film career as a story writer in the late 1980s and became known for writing crime dramas, thrillers and action-oriented stories.
Sajan wrote the screenplay for Dhruvam (1993), directed by Joshiy, which became an important early success in his career. He subsequently worked on films such as Butterflies (1993), Kashmeeram (1994), Meenathil Thalikettu (1998), Crime File (1999), Chinthamani Kolacase (2006) and Nadiya Kollappetta Rathri (2007).
He made his directorial debut with Stop Violence (2002), starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film portrayed the underworld and gang violence of Kochi and was noted for its bold and realistic treatment.
Sajan later directed films including Asuravithu (2012), Puthiya Niyamam (2016) and Neeyum Njanum (2019). His 2023 film Pulimada, starring Joju George and Aishwarya Rajesh, also marked his return to filmmaking after several years.
A. K. Sajan has also frequently collaborated with his brother A. K. Santhosh, who is a screenwriter. Through his work in Malayalam cinema, Sajan has become particularly associated with investigative thrillers, crime stories and intense dramatic narratives.
