Alec Berg
Biography
Alec Berg (born August 28, 1969) is an American screenwriter, producer, and director known for his work in television and film comedy. Born in the United States, he studied at Harvard University, where he wrote for The Harvard Lampoon.
Berg began his television career as a writer on Seinfeld, contributing to the show's later seasons. He subsequently worked as a writer and producer on Curb Your Enthusiasm and became an executive producer and showrunner on Silicon Valley.
His film writing credits include The Cat in the Hat (2003), EuroTrip (2004), The Dictator (2012), and Clear History (2013). He also co-directed EuroTrip with David Mandel and Jeff Schaffer, although only Schaffer received the directing credit because of Directors Guild rules.
Berg achieved major recognition with Barry (2018–2023), which he co-created with Bill Hader. He served as an executive producer, writer, and director on the HBO series, which follows a hitman who becomes interested in acting. The series received numerous awards and nominations during its run.
Known for combining sharp comedy with dark and unconventional storytelling, Alec Berg has become one of the prominent writers and producers in modern American television.
