Alex Borstein

Biography

Alex Borstein, born on February 15, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois, is an American actress, comedian, writer, producer, and voice artist. She began her entertainment career in comedy and became a cast member of MADtv in 1997, where she created and performed several memorable characters.

Borstein achieved widespread recognition as the voice of Lois Griffin and several other characters on the animated series Family Guy, which premiered in 1999. Her voice work on the series earned her Primetime Emmy recognition, including a win for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance.

As an actress, she has appeared in films such as Bad Santa (2003), Kicking & Screaming (2005), Little Man (2006), Killers (2010), Ted (2012), A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014), and The Angry Birds Movie (2016). She also starred as Dawn Forchette in the television comedy-drama Getting On (2013–2015).

Her most acclaimed live-action role came with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017–2023), in which she portrayed Susie Myerson, the ambitious and outspoken manager of Midge Maisel. Borstein won two Primetime Emmy Awards for the role.
