In 2023 Gale directed Paramount's Football Must Go On - telling the human stories behind Ukrainian football Champions Shakhtar Donetsk's war-torn season.

Gale is also known for his work in India, including Amazon Prime's Sons Of The Soil, following the fortunes of Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan's Pro Kabaddi team across a season, exploring how an explosion in the sport's popularity has transformed players' lives.

Alex's films Glasgow 1967: The Lisbon Lions and Scotland 78: A Love Story won the Best Documentary award from BAFTA Scotland in successive years in 2017 & 2018.
