Alex Sutherland
Biography
Alex Sutherland entered the film industry immediately after leaving school and quickly gained extensive production experience working on projects across various international locations. His early career was shaped by the acclaimed television series Sharpe, a landmark production comprising 16 feature-length episodes filmed between 1993 and 2008. During his time on the series, he progressed through several production roles, eventually advancing from assistant director to line producer.
In 2010, attracted by Türkiye’s diverse landscapes and growing filmmaking opportunities, Sutherland co-founded AZ Celtic Films in Istanbul. The production company focuses on bringing major international film and television projects to Türkiye and providing them with high-quality local production services.
Over the course of his career, Sutherland has produced major advertising campaigns for internationally recognized brands, including Heineken and Nike. His company has also contributed to numerous high-profile international productions filmed in the region, including Argo, The Two Faces of January, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, A War, Ali & Nino, Operation Fortune, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Aftersun, The Amateur, and The Night Agent Season 3.
With extensive experience in international production and a strong understanding of filming in Türkiye, Sutherland has established himself as an experienced producer and production executive working across feature films, television, and commercial projects.
