Biography
Alfred Gough, born 22 August 1967 in Leonardtown, Maryland, USA, is an American screenwriter, producer, showrunner, and television creator. He studied at The Catholic University of America before attending the Peter Stark Producing Program at the University of Southern California, where he met his longtime writing partner Miles Millar.
Gough and Millar became best known for developing the superhero television series Smallville (2001–2011), which explored the early life of Clark Kent. Gough also co-created series including Into the Badlands and The Shannara Chronicles.
His film writing credits include Lethal Weapon 4 (1998), Shanghai Noon (2000), Shanghai Knights (2003), Spider-Man 2 (2004), Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005), The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), and I Am Number Four (2011).
Gough achieved another major success with Netflix's Wednesday, which he co-created with Miles Millar. He serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the series, which follows Wednesday Addams at Nevermore Academy.
His work is particularly associated with fantasy, superheroes, action, supernatural stories, and young-adult television, making him one of the prominent creators working in genre entertainment.
