Alice Urciuolo

Biography

Alice Urciuolo, born in 1994 in Priverno, in the province of Latina, Italy, is an Italian screenwriter and novelist known for her work on contemporary stories about adolescence, identity, relationships, and social issues. She later moved to Rome, where she studied modern literature and developed her career in screenwriting.

 

Urciuolo completed a master’s program in serial screenwriting organized by Rai Fiction and the Centro di Giornalismo Radiotelevisivo of Perugia. She subsequently worked as a story editor at Cross Productions before becoming a screenwriter.

 

She became known as one of the writers of SKAM Italia, contributing to the acclaimed Italian teen drama. She later co-created and co-wrote Prisma (2022–2024) with Ludovico Bessegato. The series follows identical twins Andrea and Marco and explores gender identity, sexuality, relationships, friendship, and the challenges of adolescence.

 

Alongside television, Urciuolo is also a novelist. Her debut novel Adorazione (2020) became a finalist for the 2021 Strega Prize and was later adapted into the Netflix series Adoration (2024). She followed it with La verità che ci riguarda (2023), another novel exploring complicated relationships and emotional manipulation.
