Biography

Alison Sterling is a British film and television producer known for her work on independent feature films, television dramas, and award-winning short films. With a career spanning more than two decades, she has earned recognition for producing compelling stories, particularly those that highlight strong female characters and socially relevant themes.

Early Life

Alison Sterling began her professional career as an actress and theatre producer before transitioning into television and film production in 1997. Her early experience in performance and stage production provided a solid foundation for her later work behind the camera.

Career

Sterling's first feature film as a producer was Flying Blind (2012), directed by Katarzyna Klimkiewicz and starring Helen McCrory. The film premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and was released internationally. She has also produced several acclaimed short films, including Turning, which received a BAFTA nomination, and Flytopia, both of which were screened at numerous international film festivals and won multiple awards.

In television, Sterling has worked on a variety of notable productions, including The Windermere Children, Close to Me, The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe, Eric, Ernie and Me, and Unspeakable. She has also served as a line producer on several major television dramas and documentaries, demonstrating her versatility across different genres and production scales.

Beyond producing, Sterling is actively involved in supporting the film industry. She is a member of ACE (Ateliers du Cinéma Européen), has mentored emerging filmmakers, served on the board of the Encounters Film Festival, and has lectured at several universities on film production and industry practices.
