Ali Wong, born 19 April 1982 in San Francisco, California, is an American comedian, actress, writer, producer, and director. She graduated from UCLA with a degree in Asian American Studies and began performing stand-up comedy professionally in 2005.
Wong gained widespread recognition through her Netflix comedy specials Baby Cobra (2016), Hard Knock Wife (2018), Don Wong (2022), and Single Lady (2024). Her comedy is known for its candid and often provocative approach to relationships, family, motherhood, and personal experiences.
She co-wrote and starred in the romantic comedy Always Be My Maybe (2019) alongside Randall Park and voiced Bertie in the animated series Tuca & Bertie.
Wong received major critical acclaim for her role as Amy Lau in Netflix's dark comedy-drama Beef (2023), opposite Steven Yeun. She also served as an executive producer on the series and won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her performance.
