Amal Neerad is an Indian film director, cinematographer, and producer known primarily for his work in Malayalam cinema. He is recognized for his distinctive visual style, atmospheric storytelling, and action-oriented films.

Early Life and Education

Amal Neerad was born on 7 October 1976 in Kollam, Kerala. He studied at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute of India (SRFTI) in Kolkata, where he trained in cinematography.

Career

Amal Neerad began his professional career as a cinematographer. He worked on several Malayalam projects before making his directorial debut with Big B (2007), starring Mammootty. The film became known for its stylish visuals, unconventional action sequences, and distinctive presentation, establishing Neerad as a filmmaker with a strong visual identity.

He subsequently directed films such as Sagar Alias Jacky Reloaded (2009), Anwar (2010), Iyobinte Pusthakam (2014), CIA: Comrade in America (2017) and Varathan (2018).
