Ammara Hikmat
Biography
Ammara Hikmat started her career as an entertainment publicist and in 2016 ventured into film production. She is the investor and producer of Pakistan's most expensive film, The Legend Of Maula Jatt.
The Legend of Maula is directed by renowned Pakistani film Director Bilal Lashari with Pakistan's biggest star cast Including Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Humaima Malick, Shafqat Cheema, Ali Azmat, Gohar Rasheed, Faris Shafi and Nayyer Ejaz. She is the CEO of her own company Encyclopedia.
Ammara Hikmat stayed in the news to defend her film against a copyright infringement case filed by the producer of 1979's Maula Jatt, Sarwar Bhatti. Bhatti and his family claimed that the copyright of the characters and story belonged to them and not the original writer Nasir Adeeb as announced by him in an interview.
The film was first announced to release on Eid Ul Fitr 2019 but Ammara later on announced on social media that it was delayed for a strategic reason.
In a dramatic turn of events, closer to the release date, the legal case changed its course when Bhatti's false claims over Copyrights were challenged by the legal heirs of his partner in Bahoo Corporation hence proving his case based on Fraud.
