Biography

ASC and Emmy-nominated cinematographer Anastas Michos is known for his bold, confident approach across a wide range of genres. Whether crafting lush visuals for period dramas, shaping the charm of romantic comedies, building suspense in thrillers, or energizing musical films, he brings a distinctive style and dynamic visual language to every project.

His versatility is evident in the vibrant musical drama Sparkle, the lighthearted romance Jumping the Broom, the chilling Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, and the intense FBI thriller Untraceable. He has also delivered compelling imagery in the gritty police drama Freedomland, the elegant period piece Mona Lisa Smile, the sleek thriller Perfect Stranger, and the recent supernatural drama The Keeping Hours.

Michos’s artistry particularly shines in his collaborations with leading Hollywood actresses, including Beyoncé Knowles, Halle Berry, Kirsten Dunst, Julia Roberts, Angela Bassett, Julianne Moore, Jennifer Hudson, Paula Patton, Julia Stiles, Whitney Houston, Meg Ryan, and Annette Bening—each beautifully captured through his refined lighting and storytelling.

Before becoming a Director of Photography, he spent over a decade as one of the film industry’s most respected camera and Steadicam operators. Today, he is an active member of the American Society of Cinematographers and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He also shares his expertise through frequent lectures at universities and film workshops across the United States and Europe.
