Anders Engström

Biography

Anders Engström (born 1963) is a Swedish film and television director known for his work on several Nordic and international television dramas. Over the course of his career, he has directed numerous acclaimed series and films, gaining recognition for his storytelling style in crime, drama, and thriller genres.

 

 

Early Life and Education

Anders Engström studied filmmaking at the London International Film School, where he developed his skills in directing and visual storytelling before beginning his professional career in television and film.

 

 

Career

Engström has directed episodes of several well-known television series across Scandinavia and internationally. He is widely recognized for his work on the series Taboo, starring Tom Hardy, as well as the Nordic drama Thicker Than Water and the supernatural crime series Jordskott.

 

He has also directed feature films in the Jussi Vares crime film series, commonly known as the Vares films.

 

In addition to these projects, Engström directed episodes of several notable Scandinavian television productions, including Wallander, created from the works of Henning Mankell, as well as the crime dramas Morden and Irene Huss. He also worked on the series Småstadsberättelser.

 

 

Awards and Recognition

Engström received the Venla Award for directing the television series Isabella, recognizing his contribution to television directing.
