Andreas Bareiss
Biography
Andreas Bareiss is a German film producer who has been active in the industry since the early 1980s. In 1994, he co-founded the production company Medien & Television München with Gloria Burkert and Peter Herrmann.
Bareiss has an extensive filmography, having been involved in over 80 productions for cinema and television. He has received several awards for his work, including for the film "Nowhere in Africa," which won an Oscar in 2002. He also achieved significant success with the "Wandering Whores Saga" on German television. Bareiss has been honored with the Bavarian and German Film Prize, as well as the Bavarian and German Television Prize.
Since July 2018, Andreas Bareiss has served as a Senior Executive Producer for the German branch of Gaumont, where he notably produced the Netflix series "Barbarians."
In addition to his work as a producer, Bareiss is also a lecturer at the Bauhaus University in Weimar. Furthermore, as of May 1, 2025, he is appointed as the new director of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. He has been a lecturer at this institution since 2017 and has also taught at other universities.
