Anirban Chakrabarti is an acclaimed Indian actor from Kolkata, West Bengal, widely recognized for his work in Bengali cinema and web series. He is best known for his portrayal of the quirky and intelligent detective Ekenbabu, a character he brought to life both in a web series and a successful film franchise.

 

 

Biography and Career

Chakrabarti began gaining attention with the Eken Babu web series (2018–2021), where his portrayal of the titular detective earned widespread praise for its humor, charm, and wit. Building on the success of the web series, he reprised the role in films including The Eken (2022), The Eken: Ruddhaswas Rajasthan (2023), and The Eken: Benaras e Bibhishika (2025), all of which were commercially successful and solidified his popularity.

 

 

Apart from the Ekenbabu franchise, Anirban has explored a variety of roles in thrillers and dramas. He appeared in adventure and mystery films such as Kakababur Protyaborton (2022), Khadaan (2024), and Chaalchitro: The Frame Fatale (2024). His role in Khadaan contributed to one of the highest-grossing Bengali films of all time.

 

 

Chakrabarti also played the character Jatayu in a web series directed by Srijit Mukherji and appeared in the internationally acclaimed film Once Upon a Time in Calcutta (2021), directed by Aditya Vikram Sengupta. In 2023, he portrayed the lead antagonist in the film Pradhan, showcasing his versatility across genres.
