AnnaSophia Robb is an American actress and producer known for her work in film and television. Born on December 8, 1993, in Denver, Colorado, she began performing at a young age and went on to establish herself as a versatile actress through a mixture of family films, dramas, independent productions, and television series.
Early Life and Education
Robb developed an interest in performing during childhood and began appearing in commercials before moving into film and television. One of her early commercial appearances was for Cap'n Crunch in 2004. She attended Arapahoe High School in Colorado and later graduated from New York University in 2018.
Early Acting Career
Robb made her feature-film debut in Because of Winn-Dixie (2005), playing Opal Buloni. She followed this with roles in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), where she portrayed Violet Beauregarde, and Bridge to Terabithia (2007), in which she played Leslie Burke opposite Josh Hutcherson.
Bridge to Terabithia became an important project in her early career. Robb also contributed vocals to the film's soundtrack, performing the song "Keep Your Mind Wide Open."
Race to Witch Mountain
In 2009, Robb starred in Race to Witch Mountain alongside Dwayne Johnson and Alexander Ludwig. She played Sara, one of two extraterrestrial siblings who become involved with a Las Vegas taxi driver while trying to return to their spacecraft.
The science-fiction adventure gave Robb an opportunity to move from child-oriented dramatic roles into a larger action and fantasy production.
Soul Surfer
One of Robb's most significant film roles came in Soul Surfer (2011). She portrayed professional surfer Bethany Hamilton, who survived a shark attack that resulted in the loss of her left arm. The film follows Hamilton's efforts to return to competitive surfing and was based on her real-life story.
