Anna Diop

Biography

Anna Diop was born on 6 February 1988 in Dakar, Senegal. She is a Senegalese-American actress and model who moved to the United States with her family at the age of six. She began her television career in 2006 with a recurring role in Everybody Hates Chris and later appeared in shows such as Lincoln Heights, Whitney, Southland, and Touch.

 

Diop gained her first major television role as Rose Arvale in the supernatural drama The Messengers (2015). She subsequently appeared in Quantico and Greenleaf before joining 24: Legacy (2017) as Nicole Carter, opposite Corey Hawkins.

 

Her international breakthrough came with the DC superhero series Titans (2018–2023), in which she portrayed Koriand'r/Kory Anders, also known as Starfire. She became the first actress to portray the character in a live-action production.

 

Her film credits include The Moment (2013), Message from the King (2016), The Keeping Hours (2017), Jordan Peele's horror film Us (2019), Nanny (2022), The Book of Clarence (2023), and The Man in My Basement (2025). In Nanny, she played Aisha, a Senegalese immigrant working as a nanny in New York, earning significant critical recognition for her performance.

 

Diop has continued to expand her career with projects including Scarpetta and Strung (2026). Her work across television, film, and superhero productions has established her as a prominent Senegalese-American actress.
