Biography

Anna Lambe is a Canadian Inuk actress known for her work in film and television. Born on 25 September 2000 in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada, she emerged as one of the notable young Inuit performers on the Canadian screen. Her performances have ranged from dramatic roles in acclaimed films and television series to comedy, most notably her lead role as Siaja in North of North.

Early Life

Lambe grew up in Iqaluit and initially did not plan to pursue acting professionally. While attending high school, her drama teacher encouraged her to audition for a film project being developed in Nunavut. At around 15 years old, she participated in an acting workshop and subsequently auditioned for The Grizzlies.

The experience introduced her to professional filmmaking and helped her discover the power of storytelling. Although she initially viewed acting as a one-time opportunity, the response to her debut performance eventually encouraged her to pursue the profession more seriously.

Alongside her acting career, Lambe has studied International Development and Globalization at the University of Ottawa. Her interest in storytelling and advocacy has remained closely connected to her cultural background and her desire to see Inuit stories represented authentically on screen.

Acting Career

Lambe made her screen debut in the 2018 film The Grizzlies, playing Spring, the only female player on a high-school lacrosse team. The film, which was shot in her hometown of Iqaluit, was based on the true story of a lacrosse team in Kugluktuk, Nunavut. Her performance earned her a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Her breakthrough was followed by a role in the CBC television series Trickster (2020), based on Eden Robinson's novel Son of a Trickster. Lambe portrayed Sarah, a rebellious young woman, appearing throughout the six-episode series. Her performance earned another Canadian Screen Award nomination, this time for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

She subsequently expanded her television credits with appearances in Diggstown, Three Pines, and Alaska Daily. These projects allowed her to work across different genres and further establish herself as a versatile performer.

True Detective: Night Country

One of Lambe's most prominent television roles came in HBO's True Detective: Night Country (2024). She played Kayla Malee, a young mother and nurse, in the crime drama starring Jodie Foster and Kali Reis.

North of North

In 2025, Lambe took on her first major leading television role as Siaja in North of North, a Canadian Arctic comedy series created by Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril. The series follows Siaja, a young Inuk mother who decides to change the direction of her life after leaving her marriage.

The role represented a significant change from some of Lambe's earlier dramatic characters. Her performance combined comedy, vulnerability, determination, and warmth while presenting contemporary Inuit life from an Inuit perspective.

The series premiered in Canada in January 2025 and subsequently became available internationally through Netflix. It was renewed for a second season, further establishing Lambe as a leading figure in contemporary Canadian television.
