Biography

Anthony D'Souza, also known as Tony D'Souza, is an Indian film director, writer, and producer primarily recognized for his work in Bollywood. Born on October 5, 1979, in Mhow, India, D'Souza has carved a niche for himself by helming action-oriented and visually stylish films.

D'Souza embarked on his directorial journey with the 2009 action thriller Blue. This film was notable for its extensive underwater sequences and boasted an ensemble cast. While Blue was appreciated for its scale and production value, it received a mixed response from critics.

Following his debut, D'Souza directed Boss in 2013. This action film featured Akshay Kumar in the lead role and was a remake of the Malayalam film Pokkiri Raja. Boss aimed to be a high-octane, mass-entertainer. Similar to Blue, it garnered a lukewarm reception from critics but managed to perform reasonably well at the box office.

In 2016, D'Souza directed Azhar, a biographical sports drama based on the life of Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, starring Emraan Hashmi.

Beyond directing, Anthony D'Souza has also been involved in writing and producing films. His career reflects a focus on action and commercial cinema, contributing to the Bollywood action genre. He has also directed numerous music videos and commercials. With over 25 years of experience in the industry, D'Souza continues to be an active filmmaker.
