Biography

Known for playing the roles of Joe in the comedy film Empire Records and that of John in the romantic drama Autumn in New York, Anthony LaPaglia is an award-winning Australian actor, who has appeared in several movies and television shows and is also active in stage plays. 

 

His 2001 release Lantana, in which he played the role of Detective Leon Zat, won him the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, the Film Critics Circle of Australia Award for Best Actor, and the IF Award for Best Actor. 

 

For the movie Happy Hour, he received the Newport Beach Film Festival – Achievement Award for Outstanding Achievement in Acting, whereas Balibo, Holding the Man, The Custodian, and Summer of Sam, are a few of his other notable films. 

 

Among television audiences, he is popular for his role as FBI agent Jack Malone in the American TV series Without a Trace, which won him The Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Drama. 

 

His role as Simon Moon in the American sitcom Frasier won him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series (2002). His other notable television appearances include shows like Murder One, Keeper of the City, Lansky, and Riviera. 

 

His 2017 releases include a crime thriller The Assignment directed by Walter Hill, and director David F. Sandberg's supernatural horror film Annabelle: Creation starring Stephanie Sigman in the lead role. 

 

His 2017 release includes a drama movie The Operative, under the direction of Kai Barry, starring him as one of the lead characters opposite James Floyd and Noemie Merlant.
