Antony J. Bowman
Biography
Antony J. Bowman is a writer, director, and playwright, best known for the feature film Paperback Hero, released through Universal. The romantic comedy, starring Hugh Jackman, was adapted by Bowman from his own novel of the same name published by Penguin Books, and was screened In Competition at both the Hollywood and Milan Film Festivals.
A graduate of the London Film School, Antony began his career writing and directing short films and acclaimed drama-documentaries. His early work earned him the Silver Screen Award at the Chicago Film Festival and a Bronze Award at the New York Film Festival, establishing him as a promising creative voice.
In 2014, he won the Audience Choice Award at the Beverly Hills Film Festival in Hollywood as writer and producer for his short thriller Angel Road. Known for his flair for character-driven storytelling, his other credits as writer-director include Relatives (which received an AWG nomination for Best Feature Screenplay), Cappuccino, Three-Sixty (screened in competition at Flickerfest 2013), and the New York–set comedy Blackmail (also known as Almost Broadway), completed for Tigertail Films in 2018 and now streaming on Amazon.
Antony Bowman also works extensively in television. He is the writer of the six-part TV series Rampage, based on the novel Musth, an African thriller, and has directed the pilot episode of the U.S. television comedy Rachel, an innovative series centered on artificial intelligence.
Looking ahead, Bowman has several projects slated for 2026 as writer and director, including the U.S. thriller Snake River, the Australian–Italian co-production Arrivederci, and the horror-thriller Blood Omen. In addition, he has recently completed commissioned screenplays for Secrets of the Southern Cross and Betrayed for Onplaya Studios in Los Angeles, continuing his diverse and international body of work.
