Anup Singh

Biography

Anup Singh (born 14 March 1961) is a Geneva-based filmmaker of Punjabi Sikh origin, born in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania. His family moved to Bombay in 1971. He studied literature and philosophy at Bombay University and filmmaking at the Film and TV Institute of India, Pune. Singh has directed films for Indian TV, consulted for BBC2, and now teaches at a film school in Geneva.

 

Notable Films:

Ekti Nadir Naam (2003) – His debut feature, inspired by filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak, screened at 30 international festivals and won multiple awards.

 

Qissa (2013) – Premiered at Toronto, acclaimed for its storytelling, won Best Asian Film (Netpac), Silver Gateway Award (Mumbai FF), and Best Actress Award (Abu Dhabi FF).
