Anurag Kashyap is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer, primarily known for his work in Hindi cinema. He was born on September 10, 1972, in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Kashyap began his career in the film industry as a screenwriter, writing scripts for various movies. 

 

He gained recognition for his work as a co-writer in the crime drama film "Satya" in 1998, directed by Ram Gopal Varma. The film was critically acclaimed and established Kashyap as a promising talent in the industry.

 

In 2003, Anurag Kashyap made his directorial debut with the film "Paanch," which garnered praise for its gritty and realistic portrayal of youth and crime in Mumbai. However, the film faced censorship issues and was not released theatrically. 

 

Despite this setback, Kashyap continued to make bold and unconventional films that challenged the norms of mainstream Bollywood.
