Biography
Aran Murphy is an Irish actor who has followed in the creative footsteps of his family. He was born in London on 12 July 2007 and is the younger son of Oscar-winning Irish actor Cillian Murphy and visual artist Yvonne McGuinness. He has an older brother named Malachy Murphy.
Aran spent his early years in London before his family moved to Ireland in 2015. Growing up in a family connected to acting and the arts, he developed an interest in performance from a young age. Despite his father's international fame, his family has generally maintained a private lifestyle, keeping much of their personal life away from public attention.
Acting Career
Aran began exploring acting through theatre before moving into film and television. One of his earliest significant experiences was playing the title character in Hamnet, a stage production by the Irish theatre company Dead Centre. The production toured internationally, giving him experience performing before audiences in several cities.
He subsequently entered the screen industry with the independent science-fiction film LOLA (2022). His career expanded further when he was cast in Taika Waititi's film adaptation of Klara and the Sun and television productions including War and Youth. These projects introduced him to a wider audience and established him as an emerging actor in Irish and international screen entertainment.
