Arjun Janya

Biography

A Kannada film composer, singer, and music director, Arjun Janya has composed for movies such as Birugaali (2009), Sanchari (2010), and Kempegowda (2011). He has been the recipient of several SIIMA Awards for Best Music Director (Kannada) and, in 2013, for the Kannada movie Bajrangi, Janya received his maiden Filmfare Award for Best Music Director.

 

He, subsequently composed for movies like Alemaari (2012), Rambo (2012), and Varadanayaka (2013). In 2013, he took his first Filmfare Award for Best Music Director - Kannada for A. Harsha`s Bhajarangi. 

 

The blockbuster film starred Sudeep and Ragini Dwivedi in the lead roles and was the remake of the Tamil super hit film Singham which starred Surya and Anushka Shetty. In the following years, Arjun further consolidated his position in the industry with films like Dil Rangeela (2014), Simhadri (2014), Kathe Chitrakathe Nirdeshana Puttanna (2016), Jai Maruthi 800 (2016) and Mungaru Male 2 (2016).

The prolific composer has continued to rule the roost in the Kannada music industry in recent years as well, having served as the music director on projects like Hebbuli, Chakravarthy, Chowka, and Dandupalya 2 in 2017. Of these, his work in the action thriller Chakravarthy earned Arjun his fifth Filmfare Awards (South) nomination in 2018. 

 

Other notable film credits in recent times include the comedy-drama Rambo 2 (2018), the critically acclaimed Ambi Ning Vayassaytho (2018), the multi-starrer The Villain (2018), and Kotigobba 3 (2018). His other releases include Premier Padmini, Bharaate, Odeya, and India Vs England. His 2021 project includes Roberrt.
