Ashim Ahluwalia
Biography
A two-time National Film Award winner, Ashim Ahluwalia is an Indian director who is best known for his unconventional style of filmmaking, which blurs the lines between documentary and fiction.
Having started his directorial career by making short films like The Dust (1993), which was his maiden directorial venture, and Thin Air (1999), Ashim rose to prominence with his maiden feature-length documentary John & Jane (2005).
The film, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival won him the National Film Award for First Non-Feature Film of a Director. Ashim subsequently directed his first narrative feature film Miss Lovely (2012).
This film, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival won him the National Film Award -Special Jury Award at the 61st National Film Awards. His 2017 release includes Daddy, an Indian Political crime drama starring Arjun Rampal, and Aishwarya Rajesh.
