Ashutosh Matela

Biography

Ashutosh Matela is an Indian producer, theatre artist, editor, and choreographer who works predominantly in the Hindi film industry. Born in Haldwani, Uttrakhand, he graduated with a B-Tech in civil engineering from IIT, Delhi, from 2001 to 2005. During the third year of college, he realized his passion for dance and joined Shiamak Davar's dance class. 

 

He was also engaged in film production, acting, and choreography at college. He produced a short film 'Formula 69', released in 2008, about IIT students. His colleague Tarun Singhal, played the lead role while he was the production head. Ashutosh also made a viral video, 'Jigar Maachis,' with his friends in 2007.

 

Ashitish did a two-month stint with Davar's troupe, after his graduation in 2005, for the 2006 Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne. He also choreographed a toeing dance performance by General Mills in the inaugural event of Dip Trix. He then completed a two-month course in direction from the Vikshi Institute of Media Studies. 

 

In April 2010, he started a production company, 'Redmat Entertainment.' He aimed to produce documentaries, corporate films, and viral videos. He started his film career with the 2011 short promotional song 'AajaAajaJaane Jaan' as the writer, director, and producer of the song featuring Ashish Lal and Apurva Lamba.

 

He also produced and directed the English-language feature film 'With Love, Delhi!' (2011) starring Ashish Lal, Tom Alter, Kiran Kumar, and Seema Biswas in lead roles. Ashutosh also directed the 2018 Hindi short web series 'Galti se Mis-tech' telecasted on the ALT Balaji App. 

 

Featuring Anita Hassanandhani and Ritvik Dhanjani in lead roles, Ekta Kapoor developed the content for the series. His debut in editing was with the 2019 Bollywood film 'Gone Kesh.' Written and directed by Qasim Khallow, the drama comedy starred Shweta Tripathi, Vipin Sharma, Jitendra Kumar, and Deepika Amin in lead roles.
