Ashwin Kkumar

Biography

Ashwin Kkumar is an Indian actor who works primarily in Malayalam and Tamil cinema. He made his acting debut with Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru (2016), although his first film to be released was the Malayalam film Jacobinte Swargarajyam (2016).

After completing his studies, Ashwin joined his father's business, RTC, as Joint Managing Director. Alongside his business responsibilities, he pursued his interest in entertainment by participating in short films, radio programmes, dance videos, and other creative projects. Before entering films, he was also active as a mimicry artist, dancer, singer, YouTuber, and social-media content creator.

His entry into Malayalam cinema came through an unusual opportunity during the 2015 South India floods. While travelling through Dubai, Ashwin's flight to Chennai was cancelled because of the floods. Around the same time, filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon was unable to travel to Dubai because of the same disruption. Ashwin was subsequently offered an opportunity to take over a role that had initially been intended for Menon in Jacobinte Swargarajyam, directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan. The film was released in 2016 and became Ashwin's first released film.

He later appeared in Tamil cinema, including Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru (2016), directed by Karthick Naren. His other acting credits include films such as Mersal (2017), Pattabhiraman (2019), and Sita Ramam (2022).

Ashwin Kkumar's career is notable for its unconventional beginning. His experience in business, mimicry, dance, music, digital content, and social media eventually led him into acting, where he established himself through work in both Malayalam and Tamil films.
