Biography

Ashwin Kumar Lakshmikanthan, popularly known as Ashwin Kumar, is an Indian actor and television personality who works mainly in Tamil cinema and television. He was born on 7 May 1991 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

Ashwin began his television career with the Star Vijay serial Office (2013). He subsequently played lead roles in Rettai Vaal Kuruvi (2015) and Ninaikka Therintha Manamae (2017). He also appeared in the Telugu television series Raja Rani, a remake of the Tamil serial Saravanan Meenatchi.

He made his film debut with a small role in Mani Ratnam's O Kadhal Kanmani (2015). He later appeared in films including July Kaatril (2019), Adithya Varma (2019), Enai Noki Paayum Thota (2019), Oh Manapenne! (2021), Enna Solla Pogirai (2022), and Sembi (2022).

Ashwin gained considerable popularity after participating in the second season of the Star Vijay cooking reality show Cooku with Comali. He finished as the second runner-up and subsequently received the Most Popular Male on Reality Television award at the Behindwoods Gold Icons in 2021.

He has also appeared in short films, music videos, and web series. His music-video appearances include Kutty Pattas, Adipoli, Baby Nee Sugar, Yaathi Yaathi, and Vaadi Vaadi. His later screen work includes the crime series Dhoolpet Police Station (2025).

Through his work in television, films, music videos, and digital productions, Ashwin Kumar Lakshmikanthan has established himself as a recognizable young performer in the South Indian entertainment industry.
