Biography
Auliʻi Cravalho is an American actress and singer, born on November 22, 2000, in Kohala, Hawaii. She made her acting debut at just 14 years old when she was selected from hundreds of young performers to provide the voice of Moana in Disney's animated musical Moana (2016).
Her performance as Moana brought her worldwide recognition. She also performed the Oscar-nominated song “How Far I’ll Go”, which won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media. She later reprised the character in Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018), LEGO Disney Princess: The Castle Quest (2023), and Moana 2 (2024).
Cravalho expanded into live-action television with the NBC musical drama Rise (2018), where she played Lilette Suarez. She subsequently starred in Netflix's All Together Now (2020) and appeared in Crush (2022) and Darby and the Dead (2022).
In 2023, Cravalho joined Amazon's science-fiction drama ** The Power ** as Jos Cleary-Lopez, a teenager who develops the mysterious ability to generate electricity. The series was based on Naomi Alderman's novel.
She also portrayed Janis 'Imi'ike in the 2024 film adaptation of Mean Girls: The Musical. Around the same period, she expanded her stage career, including a Broadway run as Sally Bowles in Cabaret.
Cravalho has also taken on producing responsibilities. She is an executive producer of Disney's live-action Moana adaptation and has chosen not to reprise the title role, instead supporting the next generation of Pacific Island representation in the role.
With a career spanning animation, television, film, music, and theatre, Auliʻi Cravalho is best known for Moana, Moana 2, The Power, Rise, All Together Now, and Mean Girls.
