Babu Thiruvalla
Biography
Babu Thiruvalla is an Indian film producer, director, and screenwriter associated with Malayalam cinema. He has been involved in the industry for several decades and is known for producing films that received recognition at both the Kerala State and National Film Awards.
As a producer, he is associated with acclaimed Malayalam films including Oru Minnaminunginte Nurungu Vettam (1987), Amaram (1991), Savidham (1992), Samagamam (1993), Arabia (1995) and Kannaki (2001).
Babu Thiruvalla made his directorial debut with Thaniye (2007), for which he also contributed as a writer alongside Nedumudi Venu. The film received several awards, including the Kerala State Film Award for Best Debut Director.
He later directed Thanichalla Njan (2012), a film based on a real-life story. It won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration. His other directorial work includes Mounam and the short fiction film Sound of Morality.
Through his work as a producer and filmmaker, Babu Thiruvalla has contributed to Malayalam cinema with films noted for their strong storytelling and social themes. He has also served on film-industry juries, including the jury involved in selecting India's Oscar entry in 2016.
