Directorial Debut and Breakthrough
In 2002, Sakthivel made his directorial debut with "Samurai," featuring Vikram in the lead role. Despite receiving positive reviews, the film did not achieve significant commercial success. However, his subsequent venture, "Kaadhal" (2004), produced under S. Shankar's S Pictures banner, garnered widespread acclaim. Starring relatively new actors Bharath and Sandhya, "Kaadhal" was both a critical and commercial success, earning Sakthivel recognition for his realistic storytelling and adept direction.

The couple has two children: a daughter, Koushi Mahalakshmi, born in 2004, and a son, Vidhyadharan, born in 2007. The family resides in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
