Biography
Basil William Iwanyk was born on January 4, 1970, in Teaneck, New Jersey, and grew up in Freehold, New Jersey—the same town where Bruce Springsteen was raised. He graduated from Villanova University in 1992 with a degree in political science.
Career Beginnings
After college, Iwanyk moved to Los Angeles and began his career in the mailroom at United Talent Agency (UTA). He quickly advanced to become an agent's assistant and, in 1995, joined Warner Bros. as a creative executive. During his tenure at Warner Bros., he was involved in the production of notable films such as Mars Attacks!, Ocean’s Eleven, Insomnia, Training Day, and U.S. Marshals.
Founding Thunder Road Films
In 2000, Iwanyk left his position as Vice-President of Production at Warner Bros. to become President of Intermedia. He returned to Warner Bros. in 2004 to establish Thunder Road Films, named after the Bruce Springsteen song. Thunder Road's first production was Firewall, released in 2006.
