Ben Kutchins
Biography
Ben Kutchins is an American cinematographer known for his visually striking work in both film and television.
Kutchins began his career with an internship at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) and later studied film at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts. He gained experience shooting numerous short films before transitioning to independent features.
His cinematography credits include a diverse range of projects such as "Veronica Mars" (2014), "Crown Heights" (2017), "Photograph" (2019), and "Clouds" (2020). He has also worked on documentaries like "Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell" (2021).
Kutchins has achieved significant recognition for his television work. He served as the director of photography for the first season of the Amazon series "Mozart in the Jungle" and for multiple episodes of the critically acclaimed Netflix series "Ozark," earning two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his work on the latter. He is also the director of photography for the HBO hit series "The White Lotus," for which he has received further Emmy nominations.
Beyond his cinematography work, Kutchins has also directed the music video "U2: Atomic City" (2023).
Ben Kutchins was inducted into the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) in January 2024, a testament to his significant contributions to the field. He is considered a talented and sought-after cinematographer in the industry.
