Benny P. Nayarambalam is a prominent Indian screenwriter and playwright renowned for his contributions to Malayalam cinema and theatre. Born in Nayarambalam, Kerala, he holds a postgraduate degree in Malayalam literature, which has significantly influenced his literary and cinematic works.

 

 

Career in Theatre

Benny embarked on his artistic journey in theatre, penning his first play, Athyunnathangalil Deivathinu Sthuthi, at the age of 19. This play was produced by the esteemed actor Rajan P. Dev's production company, with Benny portraying the role of Rajan's son. His prowess in playwriting led to the creation of notable dramas such as Vikalanga Varsham and Arabikkadalum Adbudavilakkum, both of which were later adapted into successful films.

 

 

Transition to Cinema

In 1992, Benny transitioned to the film industry as a screenwriter with his debut in First Bell, directed by P. G. Viswambharan. His adept storytelling and unique narrative style quickly garnered attention, leading to a series of successful projects. Notably, his plays Vikalanga Varsham and Arabikkadalum Adbudavilakkum were adapted into the films Kunjikoonan (2002) and Chanthupottu (2005), respectively, both achieving critical and commercial success.
