Bharati Achrekar is an Indian actress who has worked extensively in Marathi and Hindi theatre, films, and television. She is widely remembered for her role as Mrs. Wagle in the classic Doordarshan series Wagle Ki Duniya, a character that made her a familiar and beloved face among Indian audiences. She currently appears as Radhika Wagle in Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey, a contemporary continuation of the iconic show.
Early Life and Background
Bharati Achrekar has a strong foundation in theatre, which played a significant role in shaping her acting career. Her experience on stage helped her develop a natural, grounded performance style that later translated seamlessly to television and cinema.
She is also known for her artistic family background. Her son, Siddharth Achrekar, is a musician and was the lead guitarist for the Indian rock band Colourblind, which collaborated with composer Ram Sampath.

Bharati Achrekar made her acting debut with the Hindi television drama Apne Paraye, directed by renowned filmmaker Basu Chatterjee. The series was based on the Bengali novel Nishkriti (1917) by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay and marked an important beginning to her screen career.
