Biography
Bill Dubuque is an American screenwriter and producer who gained recognition later in his career, having worked as a corporate headhunter for twelve years before finding success in Hollywood in his forties.
Dubuque was born in St. Louis, Missouri. His screenwriting career took off after he was approached with an idea that he developed into the script for "The Accountant," which landed on the 2011 Black List of best unproduced screenplays. His first produced screenplay was "The Judge" in 2014, which led to Variety naming him one of the "Ten Screenwriters to Watch" in 2012.
He is well-known for writing the screenplays for films such as "The Accountant" (2016), "A Family Man" (2016), and "The Judge" (2014). Dubuque also co-created and served as a writer and executive producer for the critically acclaimed Netflix crime drama series "Ozark" (2017-2022), which earned him Primetime Emmy Award nominations as an executive producer.
More recently, he wrote and executive-produced the upcoming Netflix series "His & Hers" (2025) and is also credited as a writer for "The Accountant 2" (2025). Additionally, he is involved in the stop-motion animated film "The Night Gardener" as the writer.
